You always have to be aware of the surface around you. It’s always changing and you have to constantly be ready to adjust to your surroundings.

—The other night I was sitting with my old friend James. He has been an avid skateboarder since he was a kid. We were watching some skating videos at the time when I asked him what surfaces he liked skating on best. The quote above was his answer. I thought not only was it true of skating, but a pretty good lesson in general for life as well. We can’t control what happens around us, but we can control how we monitor and react to the ever changing terrain of life. The landscape is always changing so stay on your toes people.
